There have been reports of bulldozer sabotage in many places in Haryana recently, especially against illegal constructions and colonies. Notices have been issued to more than 6,500 houses in Anangpur village of Faridabad, due to which more than 25,000 people are in danger of being homeless. Apart from this, 11 illegal constructions on the pond land in Gohana, Sonepat were broken. In Rohtak, the administration is eyeing 86 illegal colonies.

🏛️ Historical background
- This village was the headquarters of Tomar kings in the 8th century; especially architecture work was done by King Anangpal Tomar, such as the fort, temple, and Suraj Kund
- Anangpur Dam is an ancient water harvesting structure, which was built to stop the local drain; it is about 50 m long and 7 m high.
Prehistoric history
- From 1986 to 1991, ASI excavated the Palaeolithic era here and received the tools of the Lower Achulian era.
- About 43 prehistoric sites were found in Anangpur, Sasurajakundu, Tugalkabad, and Tringal.
Religious and cultural scope
- The Hari Parbat temple is established here, which is a symbol of the green Parbat of Srinagar. The temple remains the center of the ‘Nav Reh’ festival, built by the Pandit community of Kashmir.

Administration and population
There are about 30,000 residents in Anangpur (Pin 121003); the area is about 10.55 km², and population density ~ 3332/km²
Encroachment and demolition campaign
- According to the Supreme Court’s 2022 order, thousands of illegal structures built in the Aravalli region protected under Section 4 of the Punjab Land Protection Act (PLPA) are being demolished. About 5,948 structures were found in Anangpur alone
- In June 2025, the Haryana government intensified the demolition campaign on about 5,000 illegal constructions, which was started from Anangpur and is continuously being extended towards Lakkarpur, Mewla Maharajpur, and Ankhir.
- About 15–30 structures were demolished in the first phase; monitoring and regular action are planned through drone surveys in the future.
- The Central Strong Committee (CEC) has questioned the inaction of the state government and warned of time-bound implementation.
