The political temperature in the country has been high for a long time regarding the Agniveer Scheme of the Indian Army. Most of the opposition parties including Congress are attacking the BJP government regarding the Agniveer Scheme. From the streets to the Parliament, the issue of recruitment of Agniveer in the Army has been highlighted. Meanwhile, an interview of retired General VK Singh is in discussion. In this interview, VK Singh has openly expressed his opinion regarding Agriveer Scheme. In an interview given to Shubhankar Mishra on YouTube channel, General VK Singh has said that it has been one year since the Agniveer Scheme was implemented. In such a situation, ‘mid course correction’ will have to be done, so that one can get an idea of what else can be improved in it. ‘Mid course correction’ is for everyone’s benefit.
Agrivir’s fund explained from ‘Tour of Duty’
Singh said that an idea is quite famous in the army, it is called ‘Tour of Duty’. Usually in countries which have less population. The entire country goes for ‘Tour of Duty’ and serves the country. Agniveer’s story is also like this. He said, ‘The Army had given a presentation of Agniveer and told that through this recruitment scheme more and more people will join the Army. But when we start anything, it is not 100% correct. He further said, ‘This scheme has been running for a year now and the first batch is probably about to be released. In such a situation, mid course correction will have to be done. We will have to see what has happened and what has not happened, how we can make it better, how we can take it further so that it is better for everyone. My own belief is that there will be course correction in this and there is a need for course correction.
Congress’s sharp stance on Agniveer issue
On the other hand, Congress is continuously making sharp attacks on the Central Government on the issue of Agniveer. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday alleged that the central government is misleading the country by hiding the vacancy figures in the armed forces. He attacked the government by citing the answer given by the government to a question in the Rajya Sabha. Kharge posted on ‘X’, ‘Narendra Modi ji, your incompetent government has now started misleading the country and weakening the institutions by hiding important data on vacancies in the armed forces.’ But the fake nationalists of BJP, who imposed the ‘Agneepath’ scheme and ruined their future, have now refused to put this important information in the public domain.
